The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the trade association of one of the most dynamic and fast-paced industries in the world. Originally founded in 1919, it brings together approximately 280 airlines, including the world’s largest. Flights by these airlines comprise more than 95% of all international scheduled air traffic.

About UFTAA

The United Federation of Travel Agents’ Associations (UFTAA) is the highest and largest world body representing the travel industry. UFTAA represents 114 National Associations and additional Affi liate members in a total of 122 countries.

About IATA-UFTAA Diploma

The Foundation and Consultant Diploma are the fi rst and second of the four levels of the IATA/UFTAA Career Path Training Programme. It gives students a strong competitive edge to start a successful career in the Tourism Industry.

The 13 modules in the Foundation Level will provide students with an understanding of the travel and tourism industry, the practicalities of the travel professional’s role in this industry, the importance of exceeding customer expectations, and the role of technology in the travel industry. In addition, students will become familiar with related subjects such as industry regulations, codes, world geography, air fares and ticketing including e-ticketing, visa and health requirements, as well as tour programmes.

The 9 modules in the Consultant Level will help students understand more complex operations, as well as the consultative approach to selling travel and tourism. The consultant level calls for more than knowledge, as there is a heavy emphasis on situational applications.

Programme Duration
  • IATA-UFTAA Travel & Tourism Foundation Diploma: 195 training hours (6 months)
  • IATA-UFTAA Travel & Tourism Consultant Diploma: 210 training hours (6 months)
Methods of Assessment

Teaching is delivered through a variety of methods including lectures, discussions, demonstrations, case-studies, practical exercises, activities and assessments.

Certification

The IATA-UFTAA Travel & Tourism Foundation / Consultant Diploma will be awarded by IATA-UFTAA upon attaining at least 70% pass in the examination, and achieving minimum 90% attendance.

Tourism Career Opportunities

Tourism industry is a vast and diverse one where many career opportunities may include specialist positions in local travel agencies, as well as multinational corporations. Students may hold supervisory positions in airlines, clubs, cruises, railways and government tourism bodies.
