Certificate in Advanced English for Young Tourism Professionals is a programme students can rely on to cover the complete range and depth of language and skills needed to communicate effectively and confi dently especially in the tourism or hospitality industries.

It consists of three levels: English Elementary (Level 1), English Intermediate (Level 2) and English Advanced (Level 3). Each level is designed to provide at least 240 hours of class interaction.

Learners are introduced to English grammar and vocabulary through the four core competencies in speaking, listening, writing and reading which are conceptualised within a thematic interactive approach framework and this forms the structure of the course as shown below.

• A proven multi-syllabus interactive approach, which integrates work on all the vital aspects of language study, covering grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, communication skills, notions and functions.
• Learning pedagogy that advocates the use of online collaborations that equips students with essential information and communications technologies (ICT) skills (such as multi-media presentations, weblogs, podcastings and emails), which are vital for effective communication in the globalised world.
• A richness of content, providing constant variety and stimulus through authentic thematic materials that enhance dynamic teacher-learner interactions.
• Topics which engage the interest of a wide age-range tailored for paired-work and group discussion, making the course genuinely suitable for both young adults and adults.

• Academic/Professional Qualifi cations include Master of Arts Degree (Education/Psychology), Bachelor of Arts Degree with Merit (Education/ Teaching), Diploma in Education with Distinction (Education/Teaching), Certifi cate in Rules & Conventions of English Grammar (Education/Teaching), Certifi cate in the Teaching of Spoken English (Education/Teaching)

• Listen and speak with purpose and understanding in a range of situations
• Respond appropriately to oral interactions by using basic learnt phrases and sentences in a range of contexts
• Read short texts with understanding
• Aware that their language profi ciency has an impact on their living and working environment

Students will progress to the next level upon passing the Final Assessment of each level. On successful completion and passing of the advanced level, the Certifi cate in Advanced English for Young Tourism Professionals will be awarded by TMIS.
