TMIS new Board of Director, Ms Neeta Lachmandas-Sakellariou – 16 July 2010
TMIS is pleased to announce that Ms Neeta Lachmandas-Sakellariou, Executive Director, Capability Development of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), will be coming on board as our Board of Director.
As the Executive Director of Capability Development, Ms Neeta aligns manpower and scholarship development under the Industry Manpower Development department, with service quality under the Industry Service Department and Visitor Information and Feedback departments.
We warmly welcome Ms Neeta as our new Board of Director and look forward to her valuable contributions to lead TMIS to greater heights!

Low-Wage Workers and Employers Can Now Benefit from Workfare Training Support (WTS) Scheme – 1 July 2010
Singapore Citizens who are aged 35 and above and earning a monthly salary of no more than S$1,700 can now benefit from the new Workfare Training Support (WTS) Scheme by getting a higher course fee support when they sign up for any Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) courses.

Recruitment Details Finalised for First Batch of Students for TMIS-YXHMC Collaboration – 23 June 2010
Recruitment details for the first batch of students for TMIS-YXHMC collaboration has been finalised.
1) Course: WSQ Certificate in Hotel & Accommodation Services & WSQ Diploma in Tourism that are recognised by Singapore government.
2) Duration: 3 to 6 months of English course at YXHMC. Upon completion and passing all assessments, students can proceed to TMIS campus in Singapore where they will undergo 12 months of classroom training. Upon completion and passing all assessments, students will continue with a 12 months paid internship.
3) Commencement Date: End of September, 2010
4) Scholarship: Each qualified student in the first batch of TMIS-YXHMC collaboration will be awarded with a S$2,000 scholarship.
5) Target Students: Graduates from YXHMC and current students who are in their second or final year at YXHMC.

TMIS and Yin Xing Hospitality Management College (YXHMC) Discuss Collaboration Plans in Detail – 23 April 2010
Head of Marketing & Sales, Mr Leonard Yap and Senior Executive, Training & Curriculum Mr Kenneth Chao visited YXHMC on 23 April 2010 to discuss the collaboration plans in detail.
In the morning, YXHMC Principal Han Yong greets TMIS representatives at the conference room in Yin Xing F&B Building. Mr Leonard Yap highlighted that the purpose of the visit is to finalise the collaboration plans and to do the second site inspection.
On behalf of Chairman of NATAS, Mr. William Tan, Mr Leonard Yap also invited Principal Han to attend the NATAS Fair which will be held in August 2010.
In the afternoon, YXHMC Principal Han accompanies TMIS representatives to visit the YXHMC campus. TMIS representatives complimented that YXHMC’s has world class teaching facilities. As per the collaboration work plan, both sides will work on software, hardware and renovation of the facilities to ensure that students can enjoy an academic environment that is of international standard.
This is the fourth meeting between TMIS and YXHMC. Both sides are optimistic that the collaboration will be swiftly moving from discussion to implementation.

TMIS Management Visits Yin Xing Hospitality Management College (YXHMC) – 11 January 2010
Five of TMIS representatives, including Chairman of TMIS Mr William Tan and CEO Mr H P Loi visited YXHMC on 11 Jan 2010.
The collaboration meeting took place in the morning where YXHMC Principal Han Yong warmly welcomed TMIS representatives. Both sides discussed the collaboration work plan and contributed various proposals on collaboration methods, recruitment exercises, curriculum management and academic credit transfer, etc. It was agreed that the collaboration will start in Year 2010 which will then allow YXHMC students to progress to the international platform. TMIS representatives, accompanied by YXHMC management, toured YXHMC campus. TMIS Chairman, Mr William Tan praised YXHMC for excellent facilities and is confident that the collaboration will be a success.
This meeting certainly lay good foundation for the collaboration plans to be implemented smoothly.

Yin Xing Hospitality Management College (YXHMC) Principal Han Yong Visits TMIS – 1 December 2009
On YXHMC Principal Han Yong was cordially invited by TMIS CEO H P Loi to Singapore to witness TMIS Graduation Ceremony 2009.
On 2 December 2009, Principal Han Yong visited TMIS@Orchard and was received warmly by TMIS Board of Directors. During the visit, various topics regarding collaboration, student & academic staff exchange programmes, academic credit transfers and further studies for YXHMC students were discussed.
In the evening, Principal Han Yong attended TMIS Graduation Ceremony 2009 held at Suntec Convention and Exhibition Hall.
A MOU was signed during this visit by YXHMC to kick start an international collaboration between TMIS and YXHMC.
