About WDA

The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) is a Statutory Board under Ministry of Manpower acting as a catalyst and champion of workforce development. It aims to enhance employability and competitiveness of both employees and job seekers.

The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) offers a new composite skills assessment under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifi cations (WSQ) system to help students and experienced workers gain a recognised national credential.

About WSQ

The Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifi cations (WSQ) is a robust and integrated continuing education and training system.

WSQ builds on the work achieved through previous work on industry-designed competency standards under the National Skills Recognition System (NSRS). While NSRS integrates with WSQ, WSQ is more comprehensive. It comprises a full competency map covering all occupations in an industry section with clear certifi cation points, career development and training pathways, and nationally recognised qualifi cations.

The WSQ industry skills framework comprise a generic platform of employability skills and “know-how” to work and progress in the industry, and specifi c occupation skills aligned to individual jobs or job families. It also provides useful information for workers to map out their career progression in the tourism & hospitality industry.

  • The Tourism WSQ is recognised by the industry, and allows recognition of learning achievements through a variety of learning options such as on-thejob training, classroom training, etc.
  • Certificates are directly awarded by WDA; nationally endorsed and recognised by the tourism industry.
  • WSQ qualifi cations will help enhance employability locally or overseas.
  • Students with a WSQ Certificate should also be able to cross over to the school system to earn a polytechnic diploma or even a degree in the future.
