Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS) has named Dr Steven Chua its New Chief Executive Officer

16th Nov 2022,  Singapore – Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS), announced on 15th November 2022 the appointment of Dr Steven Chua, as its Chief Executive Officer.

In the last three decades Dr Steven Chua has built a rewarding career in the hospitality and tourism industries.  Past industry appointments with listed corporations have included board chair, directorships, and “C-suites” assignments.

Milestones in Dr Steven Chua’s career include senior leadership roles with Singapore’s Sentosa Development Corporation (a statutory board that manages Sentosa island resort), Singapore Sports Hub (the largest Public-Private Partnership in the world of a sporting nature), SATS Country Foods, Ponte 16 Casino Resort in Macau, Dhensa Boutique Resorts in the Kingdom of Bhutan, China’s Pearl River Delta Zhuhai Wanshan Marine Development Zone.

In the domain of talent capital development, he was part of the pioneer academic team that designed and developed the curriculum and assessment for the Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management at Temasek Polytechnic.  In his tenure at Sentosa Development Corporation, he led in the development of Tourism Academy @ Sentosa to upgrade visitor experience on the resort.  As well, Dr Steven Chua was President & CEO of SHATEC, and established SHATEC Institutes Macau.

Dr Steven Chua read Management, Sociology and Asia Pacific Studies at the Universities of Massachusetts, Surrey and Leeds, respectively. As well, he has completed executive programs at Cornell University and École hôtelière de Lausanne
