Certificate in Advanced English for Young Tourism Professionals - Elementary

Course Objectives

The Certificate in Advance English for Young Tourism Professionals programme encrypted students the language and skills needed to communicate effectively and confidently, especially in the tourism and hospitality industries.

The programme aims to develop the student’s appropriate use of English in terms of accuracy, facility and fluency. It serves as a preparatory course designed to prepare non-English speakers who do not meet the minimum English language requirement for TMIS programmes.

Learners are introduced to English grammar and vocabulary through the four core competencies in speaking, listening, writing and reading which are conceptualised within a thematic interactive approach framework and this forms the structure of the course.

  • 240 hours

Mode of Instruction

The following methodologies will be adopted:

  • Individual Work (including Oral Presentations)
  • Information Communication Technology (ICT) Engagement
  • Speaking and Active Practices
  • Listening Practices
  • Pronunciation – Key Sounds
  • Periodical Assessments

There are three levels: Level 1 (Elementary), Level 2 (Intermediate) and Level 3 (Advanced).

Certification

Upon successful completion, the Certificate in Advanced English for Young Tourism Professionals Level 1 (Elementary) will be awarded by TMIS. Students will be able to progress to the next level.

Entry Requirement

New students who have completed secondary school and a TMIS English Placement Test score of 45 marks and below.
